Tolly Tested -
Functionality Certification and Cooperative Interoperability Evaluation:
Alcatel-Lucent
OmniSwitch 6850
and
OmniSwitch 9800,
switches shown to be interoperable with competitors in more than a dozen
tests to meet The Tolly Group's "Up to Spec" certification. (July 2007)
Network Computing's "Editor's choice Award":
OmniSwitch 9700
takes Network Computing's "Editor's choice Award." (10 March 2006)
The best fit for the larger core of an enterprise network
The
Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 9800
(OS9800) expands the award- winning OmniSwitch 9000 family
(OS9000) with a larger chassis featuring twice as much capacity than the
OmniSwitch 9700
providing improved
enterprise LAN core switching. Of the OS9000s, the OS9800 is the best fit
for the larger core of an enterprise network, providing enough
capability/connectivity to eliminate the need for the aggregation tier.
The OS9800 satisfies current requirements such as
availability, performance, and density for both GigE and 10GigE, and sets a
new expectation regarding the network response time.
Like
the entire OS9000 family, the OS9800 provides advanced security and QoS
features at an attractive price and is fully supported by
Alcatel-Lucent's OmniVista Network Management System,
an easy to use, policy-based, management solution.
OmniSwitch 9700
Winner of Network Computing's Editor's Choice
The Alcatel-Lucent
OmniSwitch 9700 switch addresses the evolving needs of the
enterprise: high availability, wire-speed performance, high density GigE and
10GigE, and dramatically improved network response time. These capabilities
ensure an easy and economical way to upgrade or deploy a new Ethernet
network.
The large number of ports makes the OmniSwitch 9700
suitable for two or three-tier network designs. This is possible because of
the high performance capability and density of GigE and 10GigE. With native
and full support of both IPv6 and IPv4 protocols, the OS9700 future proofs
the enterprise, ensuring worry-free, wirespeed, phased migrations to IPv6.
The OS9700 is engineered to be deployed in the core, data
center, aggregation layer, or wiring closet, and was recently named as
Network Computing's Editor's
Choice for its superb manageability and ease of use.
OmniSwitch 9600
Delivers industry-leading QoS for multimedia and VoIP
The
Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 9600 (OS9600) expands the award
winning OmniSwitch 9000 family with a chassis smaller than the OmniSwitch
9700 . Of the OS9000s, the OS9600 is the best fit for the aggregation tier
of a 3 tier enterprise network and the wiring closet. Today’s aggregation
and wiring closet switches must support converged applications and the
OS9600 delivers industry leading quality of service (QoS) for multi-media
applications and voice-over-IP (VoIP).
The OmniSwitch 9600 is a five-slot chassis supporting one CMM and four network interface (NI) modules. The OS9600 uses the OmniSwitch 9700 CMM and shares a common set of network interface modules with the rest of the OmniSwitch 9000 family. The wide range of GigE and 10GigE interfaces offered by the OS9600 facilitates the industry’s most flexible combination of Ethernet in a wiring closet switch.
OmniVista 2500
Network Management System
Delivering the best manageability for the enterprise
The
Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista 2500 NMS application is the foundation for
managing networks comprised of Alcatel-Lucent and other network devices. The
OmniVista 2500 (OV2500) gives administrators a unified view of the network
as well as the necessary functions and services required to support next
generation devices and applications. It features centralized management,
bulk operations, simplicity, and scalability, and adheres to the essential
network management functions of the FCAPS model (fault, configuration,
accounting, performance, security).
By providing
centralized operations, the infrastructure is optimized and deployment is
simplified. Network device discovery and topology maps provide both physical
and logical views of the network. Users are able to automate operations such
as CLI scripting, create VLANs across multiple devices, and provide third
party device support.
Centralized operations also optimizes troubleshooting since it is easier to
monitor the health of the network using a combination of alarm information,
the locator service for pinpointing user location, and the trap responder
for taking quick, automated action when there is an event. Health and
statistic information is also readily available.
